Damsel in Defense Presentation - How to Protect Yourself

Hi friends!  I hope you are well.  We are doing pretty good.

Today, I have something a bit more serious to talk about.  I hosted a Damsel in Defense "Empower Hour" last night and my friend Ali graciously opened her house to us.  I learned so many alarming facts about violence:
**1 in 5 women will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime**
**College age women are 4 times more likely to be assaulted**
**A child is abducted every 40 seconds**
**Every 26 seconds a violent crime occurs**

Honestly, I know it's not fun to talk about.  Though, my friend Collette did an amazing job keeping the mood light.  I learned a lot about ways to keep myself from being attacked, what to do if I am attacked, and how to fight back.   Collette got some training from Damsel in Defense and they have law enforcement officers come in at their training to speak.  I cannot emphasize to you how IMPORTANT I feel this is!  I feel like I've been irresponsible not having a pepper spray until last month and constantly running around at night doing errands.  I had NO plan on what I would do if I got attacked.

Truth time.  I'm one of the 1 in 5 women who have been sexually assaulted.  And like most women, I froze.  PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE have a plan of what you would do if this were to ever happen to you.  I now have a pepper spray and personal alarm.  I can draw attention to myself with the alarm and hope that someone comes.  I can spray the attacker and give myself some time to get away.  I also plan on getting the Sock it To Me Kubotan in case anyone gets their hands on me.  I hope I never have to use this plan but at least I have one now.

Collette also informed us that if an attacker sees that you have means of protecting yourself, your chance of getting attacked goes down to 1%.  Attackers want an easy target.  Please don't be an easy target!  Even if you don't want to order any products, please sit down and think of a plan of what you would do.  And TALK to your daughters about it too.  PLEASE.  College women at 4 times more likely to be attacked.  Arm your girls with some pepper spray or alarms.  It can save their life or innocence.

If you'd like to order from my party, you can go to Collette's Damsel in Defense site HERE.  Select my name and shop.  If you have any questions or want to learn more about the products, check out my Facebook event Arm Your Assets with Ashley.  The products are inexpensive, $10 for a pepper spray, personal alarm, or kubotan. Buy them for every woman and girl you know.  Be empowered.  I hope you'll never have to use any of it.

Giant hugs, friends!  You mean so much to me and I just want for you all to be safe, always.
